10-25-08 Tank Photos
A little starfish of some sort crawled out of his hiding spot.
Some sort of creature building itself a home. Every day, the structure is a little larger. It sweeps out its tenticals, and brings home little pieces of sand. I dont know what this is yet.
I think this might be an aptasia, a dreaded pest that reefkeepers fear.
Tank Parameters:
Temp: 80 deg F
pH: 7.9
Salinity: 1.023 sg
Amonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 10 ppm
Based on a suggestion from several posts I've read up at nano-reef-com, I added more water to my tank. There are min and max water level markings on the sump. These really only apply to when you are using the bio-balls in the second chamber. Since I've removed them, there is no reason to keep the water level so low. Now I don't hear any annoying water gurgling sound from the tank anymore. I decided not to do a water change at this time. I am seeing the first signs of brown and green algae starting to form in places.
