Starting a reef tank
I've started a new fishtank. It is an Oceanic BioCube 8.
I plan to have a pico reef, with corals, crabs, shrimp, maybe a small fish. I just got the live rock situated in its final(?) arrangement this afternoon. The rock is fully cured, so I should not exerience a huge ammonia spike. But I plan to keep things slow. One word of wisdom I read was, the only thing that happens fast is a disaster. So I won't be adding any livestock for a while. And even when I do, it will be very slowly.
I have a few hitchhikers on the live rock. One snail, a few feather dusters, and 2 clam/oyster like critters embedded on the back side of the rock. I hope they don't die, there is no way to get them out.
Water Parameters:
Temp: 80 deg F
Salinity: 1.023 sg
pH: 7.8
Ammonia: 0 ppm
Nitrite: 0 ppm
Nitrate: 0 ppm
